Have you been diagnosed with breast cancer? Has your mother, sister, or a good friend? If so, please step into my kitchen and pull up a chair at my website – breastcancerkitchen.com.
My name is Barbara Spalding, and I’m a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) who happens to have lived with breast cancer, on and off, for nearly 14 years. Over that time I’ve learned a lot both as a patient, and as an RDN who has been trained clinically and scientifically about nutrition, food, and food choices.
That’s what I want to share with you. The way you eat and even small lifestyle changes can help you feel more comfortable and a little more in control during treatment – which is something that can be pretty overwhelming.
Millions of women are living with breast cancer –keyword: living
For many of us, receiving a breast cancer diagnosis can be one of the scariest things you’ll ever experience. I know it was for me. But this happened to me over ten years ago and I’m still here. That’s because nowadays a breast cancer diagnosis need not be an automatic death sentence. More and more scientific breakthroughs are happening every day and millions of women live full lives for many years while having this disease.
We are not victims
I created breastcancerkitchen.com to try to demystify the disease and help you better understand what having acute or chronic breast cancer is really like. You are NOT a victim, and you can help yourself.
And here’s where breastcancerkitchen.com might make a difference. Together we’ll explore easy ways to keep you more comfortable during treatment. How to plan for your treatment days and weeks so that you, and your family are taken care of. And we’ll explore some of the confusing information that’s out there about breast cancer and food.
Let’s do this together
Join me in the breast cancer kitchen. I can’t work miracles, but I can provide information and inspiration to help you through your journey.
